Texas license plates taking on old look
Texas license plates are getting a new look that take a design from the past. What do you think about the new plate design?

A nice change to the most recent version of Texas plates that are so damn ugly.
It’s been more than two years since Stephen Colbert’s trip to NASA and failed attempt at astronaut training, but on Wednesday night’s episode of The Colbert Report, he’s giving Houston the spotlight again.

Houston: The Rushmore School
The world of Houston prep schools is small. Students who attend one of them are familiar with the others, and at some point, probably spend some time at them. As a student of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, I spent some miserable nights running track and field’s worst races—the 800; 1,600; and 3,200—on the cushy track of St. John’s School. That’s why, when I saw Wes Anderson’s delightful 1998 film Rushmore, I recognized exactly where it had been filmed.

Acid Burned Dog Delivers 8 Puppies: all to die
Humble, Texas: Some monster burned this beautiful dog with acid. Mamasita wound up at the Humble Animal Control and delivered eight beautiful puppies. She is a great mom, trying to keep her babies safe. Sadly, the Humble Animal Control does not adopt out pit bulls. Humble is located a few miles north of Houston, Texas.
This tiny shelter does not have resources and backing, but tries very hard for the animals in their care. A dedicated officer built Mamasita a whelping box for her puppies.
The only chance Mamasita and her puppies have is to be pulled by a rescue group. Please share Mamasita’s story in hopes that she and her family can be rescued.

Former Astro Berkman says Selig ‘extorted’ Crane in move to AL
A lot of people cried foul when word leaked that the Astros would be moving to the American League in 2013. But is calling it extortion too much of a stretch? Not for former Astro Lance Berkman.
From an ESPN story:
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lance Berkman said Tuesday that Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig “extorted” new Houston Astros owner Jim Crane into changing leagues as a precondition of the sale of the franchise in November.
It’s not the first time Berkman has expressed his irritation with his former team’s move to the AL. In November, he called it a “travesty.”
According to ESPN, Berkman didn’t back down from his comments:
“If he called me, I would tell him,” Berkman said. “I think that’s exactly what it was. To tell [Crane], ‘We’re going to hold the sale of the team up until you guys agreed to switch’? It just happened that the Astros were being sold at an optimal time for that to happen.”
